DeMarcus Cousins, better known by his nickname ‘Boogie,’ is back in the NBA with a fresh start at Golden State after signing a one-year contract that gives him access to a team capable of competing for championship glory.

Cousins was born and educated at LeFlore Magnet High School before going on to play at University of Kentucky for their Wildcats team.

He is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers in the National Basketball Association (NBA), having been born August 13, 1990 in Mobile, Alabama to Jessie and Monique Cousins and having attended LeFlore Magnet High School before continuing on at University of Kentucky.

He has received many honors and awards during his career, such as four NBA All-Star appearances. Additionally, he won two gold medals with the United States men’s national basketball team.

Boogie stands out as an athlete by seeking ways to spread awareness and support social causes. This year, he’s releasing a shoe which will raise funds for rapper Meek Mill’s Reform Alliance which advocates criminal justice reform. They will go on sale October 26th for $220 each with all proceeds going directly back into supporting this cause.


DeMarcus Cousins is a 270-pound power forward with an elegant touch around the basket. His massive frame has earned him the name Boogie Man.

He earned his college basketball degree at Kentucky, winning both a national championship and being honored as SEC Freshman of the Year during his freshman season.
